henlo erri1 todys interreviw iz wit da rytm master. tak it away, meow!
Thank you, Hypercam! Our interviewees today have music in their veins, particularly the beat! That’s right, they are Hakuko, the rhythm girl from Rhythm Heaven, and Don-Chan, the taiko drum from Taiko no Tatsujin! …or would that be Taiko Drum Master?
Both are fine, da-don!
Okay! Both of them call themselves the Rhythm Masters, and quite evidently, they represent rhythm games. I guess, dear Hakuko, that participating in such a tournament was quite obvious for you, wasn’t it?
You bet! Since the King for a Day Tournament is all about music, it made perfect sense for us to show to the world that rhythm can make music, well, Perfect!
Yeah! But I have another reason too, don. Ya see, I have a dream: to make taiko drumming known all over the world, da-don! But I realized that this dream would never come true if I kept sleeping on the roof of my house, don…
And so, when you received the invitation, you decided to compete. But you didn’t come here alone. How did you two meet?
Well, it was kind of awkward. One of my pet monkeys stole a banana sweet from Don-chan…
Oh yes, I was SUPER FURIOUS, da-don! But then, I saw the girl scold the monkey and I noticed he was tapping his feet in frustration, but in perfect rhythm! Quite incredible, da-don!
Yeah, happily, you weren’t mad at me for too long when you realized our hearts were beating in a perfect unison for the rhythm!
Sure thing, don! That night, we had a small dinner at the Wada household. I remember Tetsuo-kun was so captivated by all of the stories with your friends you told him, da-don! The ghosts, the aliens, the animals, the karate masters… So many friends, don!
Later, when I received the invitation, I asked all of my Rhythm friends to train me harder than ever to be sure to hit a perfect beat every time. So I didn’t only train my feet like I usually do, but also my arms with baseball bats, my hands with forks and sweets, and I even learned some Karate with Joe! I have no excuses now if I don’t hit a Perfect!
I trained hard too!… well, to be fair, I slept a lot, don…
Oh, Don-chan, don’t be so hard on yourself! Remember when we trained together at the Bon Odori? Your skills in taiko drumming are incredible, everyone was impressed!
Aww, thanks, da-don! I’m not quite on the level of Mechadon, but he’s a bit of a cheater-don… Anyway, when I asked Bachio-sensei to see if I could attend, they said yes. I was so excited I went all REEENDAAAAA! Of course, Kat-chan was a bit jealous, but he told me he would support me all the way to victory. So I’m also running for him, da-don!
Awww, you two are so sweet! What are your feelings about your first opponent?
The rocker guy and his puppet? It’s interesting our first opponent is another duo! Personally, I trained with rockers, so I’m well rounded to take him on! I just hope he knows how to finish his songs well, otherwise I will feel a bit sick, hehe…
A puppet? I think it looks more like a cheery Oni, da-don! Well, I wonder if it’s really an Oni, he is very small and he doesn’t have horns, don… But if he is an Oni, that will be a good test of my drumming skills! Ohhhhh, I can’t wait, da-don!
Well, okay! I’m personally relieved I got to interview jolly people like you, that’s a nice breather from some other contestants. One last question though: I heard rumours that you two are now so close that you are able to hit your beats in unison, is that true?
Don! Pose for the fans!
Waaaaaii!
What the? What is th- wait up, that’s US on the photo? On a freshly printed newspaper? Coming out of thin air? How did this happen?
Oh, it sometimes happens when we do that… But I hope this answered your question!
Well, this answer surely was unexpected, to say the least… But thank you for the interview, and good luck to you two!
