It’s Round Three of the King for Another Day Tournament folks, and you know what that means! That’s right, it’s more interviews with yours truly!
We’re kicking it off with a double interview with Mariya Takeuchi, who just defeated Off the Hook, and ZUN, who just dropped down to the losers’ bracket after a defeat from Law & Disorder. Both of them are set to go up against each other to start off the next round. Welcome back, you two!
Hello! It’s good to be here again.
Same. Before we start, do any of you happen to know why the Reimu doll I’ve been carrying around has a patched-up hole on her side all of a sudden?
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yeah, uh, we don’t know about that. Anyway, let’s start off with a question for you ZUN. Are you familiar with Mariya’s work?
I remember her music from when I was younger. That being said, I wasn’t really much listening to popular music during her peak, so I can’t say I know her work as well as I should – sorry Mariya, Himekami’s draw was too strong on me! *laughs*
I did listen to some of your music before I came here, ZUN. It’s amazing to hear how much video game music has evolved beyond what it was in the 1980s! Although your music is a bit more Eastern than what I typically listen to.
I did mention I was into Himekami. *laughs*
SiIva’s very existence is proof of that evolution too. Mariya, you recently managed to beat Off the Hook, last year’s runner-up. How does it feel now that you’ve won against them?
I was pretty nervous going into the matchup, that is true. Having to fight a team that managed to win so many people over before… it was intimidating, even after getting a pep talk from another contestant. They definitely are a talented trio though, there’s no doubt about that. I wish them the best in the future.
they wer no match 4 me tho :)
And ZUN, in the last round, you suffered a loss to Law & Disorder. You lost in the second round last year too…
dat was my fault :)
…does this feel like déjà vu?
It does, but to be honest, I’m not taking the defeat too terribly. Even though I lost, I have nothing against Phoenix or that bear. Even if someone is your opponent, that doesn’t mean they will always be your opponent; that’s one of the big messages I always push in the Touhou series. Even if someone is causing an incident and you’re the one who has to stop them, nothing’s keeping you from sitting down with them afterward and drinking together as friends.
of course you’d say something like that.
Did you say something, Mariya?
No, I didn’t hear anything.
Anyway, I am not too sad about dropping to the losers’ bracket. Managing to win from the losers’ bracket would be impressive, even if it’s not as impressive as a 1CC would be. *laughs*
Any thoughts on the upcoming match itself?
I think this is going to be an interesting fight. Even though we are both Japanese, one of us embraces the West while the other embraces Japan… truly a clash of cultures.
You make it sound worse than it really is!
I’m sorry, I don’t mean it like that!
myowth can i ask zun a queston, i promise it wont b about b00bies this tiem
…if you really want to.
thx mouth. mr zun-sama, u said in teh last intervew dat it wuz hard 2 deliver mail 2 gensokyo. if u really wanted 2 deliver mail 2 gensokyo, y not ask yukari.
…she scares me.
I think that’s all the time we have for today. Good luck to the both of you!
Thank you Meowth, I know that I’ll have good luck for sure if I hear that from a lucky cat like you.
Same, as long as you aren’t secretly a cat of bad omens or something. *laughs*
Don’t jinx it!
